BEI Conference

Hello friends!

This week we’re going to fill you in a bit on the BEI conference Pat and Todd attended that kept them out of the office last week — we think you’ll find it interesting!

Before we get to that, a quick word on the economy: The economy is performing well at the moment and the Pfizer vaccine has full FDA approval, which may make more unvaccinated people comfortable with receiving the vaccine. This could, in turn, improve the economy as people might be more willing and able to go places, do things, and hold jobs that require vaccinations. Basically, as confidence rises with vaccine approval, so does the outlook for the economy.

Now, onto the fun, non-COVID stuff. Last week, Todd and Pat attended the Business Enterprise Institute’s (BEI) national conference about business succession, continuity, and owner transition. Todd even spoke at the conference, which is a great honor for our whole team. He led a boardroom panel titled Recruiting, Training, and Retaining Talent in Your Firm.

Both Todd and Pat attended sessions on buy/sell agreements, asset protection in the family business, and quality of business earnings review. Pat attended a full-day meeting on advanced planning. He especially appreciated a session on corporate culture and how important it is to have your whole team aligned with the same office culture.

Todd’s favorite part of the conference was “being able to collaborate with other professionals to help them enhance their planning practices and provide BEI with ideas, information, and suggestions about ways for them to strengthen their services to advisors like Obsidian Planning.”

The conference was attended by people from a variety of professions, including attorneys, CPAs, and financial planners. “What I enjoyed most was interacting with other professionals and getting updates and ideas from them,” Pat said.

The whole team at Obsidian is pleased that Pat and Todd attended this conference because it demonstrates not only their dedication to the field, but it gives us all a chance to learn and grow as a business and a team. Don’t be surprised if they have great new ideas for you, our wonderful clients.

We hope everyone is having a great week, and that anyone involved in back to school activities is doing well with the transition out of the summer holiday. As always, we’ll be back with you next week.
