Obsidian Market Update 5/1/20

Free time in quarantine

Free time in quarantine

Good afternoon,

We thought we would take a little break from stock market news this week to give you an inside look at what our team is up to when we’re not working! We polled the team, and here’s a sneak peek into how Pat, Todd, Cynthia, Pam, and Becky are living their best life during these unusual times. Check it out to get to know us better, and to get some good binge-watching recommendations.

What shows are you watching?

“Ozark!!! And All American with my son.”

“I’m watching Ozark and Schitt’s Creek. The family is watching The Good Place.”

“Little Fires Everywhere, and we finished Ozark.”

Are you reading anything good?

“Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.”

I’m a big reader. Recent books are Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins, Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate, and The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah.”

What creative or home improvement projects has staying at home inspired you to work on?

“I have been converting the garage into a gym for me and my son.”

Do you have any silly or fun ways you are coping with quarantine?

“I’m enjoying finding music to dance to while cooking dinner! Last night it was Cleaning Kit on Spotify.”

“I am taking long walks, reviewing pictures from my hiking trips to frame, doing church via our church YouTube channel, calling friends daily to check-in, and supporting a food bank with food donations.”

“I’ve been gardening and sewing. My daughter and I have made and given away about 40 face masks.  We also added a couple of new bird feeders to the back yard. We’ve really enjoyed watching the birds. My husband installed a motion sensor camera in our back yard and we’ve been watching a fox dig around in our compost heap every couple of days. I’ve started rinsing my eggshells to discourage his interest!”

“Our family has a quarantine calendar on the wall in the kitchen. Every day, each family member writes something on the calendar about the day. Sometimes it’s a favorite snack or meal, TV show or movie or just some memory that will differentiate that day from all the others.”

We are doing art videos with our kids.”

“I have enjoyed playing the board game Ticket to Ride with the members of my household and other family members over Zoom.”

Do you have any fun or heartwarming stories to share?

“I have been catching up with many old friends from college via Zoom!”

“We are getting a corgi puppy this weekend! My daughter is home after being evacuated from Peace Corp service in The Gambia. The puppy is her welcome home consolation prize.”

“We celebrated our anniversary last night and dressed up in our wedding attire, ate pizza, toasted with champagne, and watched our wedding video. The kids got a kick out of it.”

Hang in there, and have a lovely weekend.
